WHO WE HELP...

Thousands of Canadians with major depression are suffering because they can’t get access to the medications that will help them. Among those who are being left out are:

SINGLE PARENTS
INDIGENOUS PEOPLE
SENIORS AND VETERANS
HOMELESS AND MARGINALIZED
SELF-EMPLOYED AND UNEMPLOYED
PEOPLE WHO RELY ON PUBLIC DRUG PLANS

Public drug plans across Canada do not cover the cost of the latest, most innovative medications that can treat major depression.

  • 48.5%

    Non-Mental Health Drugs

  • 76%

    Mental Health Drugs

  • 100%

    Anti-Depressant Drugs

WHAT WE DO...

Through this newly formed coalition, members want to:

Create awareness and recognition among policy-makers about the complexity of major depressive disorder and why access to the latest depression medications is crucial

Highlight the inequity issue, where thousands of Canadians who rely on public drug plans to cover the cost of their medications and those without any coverage at all are not receiving the treatment they need to get better mentally

Make depression care a priority among policy-makers

Depression is a complex illness with 227 different combinations of symptoms. Its treatment demands access to innovative medications that address not just mood, but sleep patterns, appetite and cognition.
